Kenya: The Warrior Priest Movement – August 2025

In August, Team 144 returned to Kenya for two incredible weeks of ministry and mission work.

During Week One, the team served at Kenya Ministry Training Institute (KMTI) in Kitale, where Team 144 instructors stepped into dual roles — teaching both theology and self-defense. For eight hours each day, our Theologian Instructors helped students dig deep into God’s Word, uncovering truth, the power of walking in faith and how to teach the word of God.

In the evenings, the focus shifted to the body. As Krav Maga Instructors, our team taught KMTI’s Pastors-in-Training how to protect themselves and their congregations. This five-day, two-hour-per-night self-defense course perfectly embodied the spirit of Team 144 — blending spiritual fortitude with physical preparedness. It was the living picture of what we call the “Warrior Priest.”

The second week took us to the Fearless Movement Conference, a gathering of nearly 400 college-age students from across Kenya. Team 144 led main sessions and breakout groups centered on “Understanding Purpose and God’s Direction for Your Life.”

In the evenings, the team guided hands-on sessions that helped young men and women learn practical self-defense and mental resilience — empowering them to be “a little harder to kill” while standing boldly for Christ.

Cambodia: Light in the Hard Places – October 2025

In October, Team 144 journeyed to Cambodia to partner once again with Ms. Alli and the Hard Places Community (HPC) — a faith-driven nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, restoring, and empowering children and women affected by exploitation, abuse, and human trafficking.

The HPC team lives out the Gospel daily on the front lines of darkness, and it’s always an honor for Team 144 to come alongside them — not just to teach self-defense, but to remind them of a greater truth:

“You are worth fighting for.”

That is the heartbeat of our mission. Every class we teach — every block, strike, and defensive movement — is a living parable of identity and worth. And this trip was filled with those lightbulb moments when participants realized their lives have divine value and strength.

Perhaps the most exciting development is the rise of Team 144 Cambodia, a group of seven dedicated young men who have trained with us for the past two years. These future leaders recently completed their Level 2 Student Exams — and every one of them passed.

Even more inspiring, they served as Co-Instructors during our group sessions, elevating the entire experience with their skill, passion, and presence. Team 144 Cambodia is now poised to become our first international branch, fulfilling Founder Dwayne Higgason’s long-time vision of a global network of Warrior Priests.

During the trip, our small team of four instructors taught 7–9 classes per day, impacting 150–170 people daily. It was one of the toughest mission trips to date — physically and mentally demanding — but also one of the most rewarding. Lives were transformed. Hearts were fortified. The Kingdom advanced.

Closing Thoughts

From the classrooms of Kenya to the streets of Cambodia, Team 144 continues to carry the message that strength and faith are not separate — they are united in purpose. We are training Warriors of Light — men and women who defend the weak, protect the innocent, and advance the Kingdom with courage and compassion.

As we look toward 2026, we are more committed than ever to expanding our international reach, empowering local leaders, and equipping those who stand against darkness — in every nation, in every heart.

Team 144 - “Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.”
