Team 144 is thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter in our journey: Jak Varnado has officially been named the new Director of Team 144! After years of unwavering dedication, development, and leadership, Pastor Higgason is faithfully passing the torch to a man he has trained, trusted, and served alongside for years. We celebrate Pastor Higgason’s legacy and look forward with anticipation as Jak leads us into this next season.
Jak is affectionately known as the “Swiss Army Knife” of Team 144—and for good reason. Whether it’s martial arts instruction, troubleshooting equipment, or lightening the mood with a well-timed board game, Jak consistently shows up with a tool in hand, a solution on standby, and a servant’s heart. His presence is both steady and inspiring.
With over 30 years of martial arts experience and a long list of certifications, Jak brings not only skill but seasoned wisdom to our team. His professional journey began as a firefighter and eventually led him into law enforcement, where he rose through the ranks—from patrolman to Lieutenant at the Training Academy. He has served in nearly every capacity, earning the respect of both colleagues and community members.
A Message for This Moment: Ask, Seek, Knock
Recently, Jak delivered a powerful message titled “Ask, Seek, Knock” at a local church, drawn from Matthew 7:7–11. His message was a heartfelt invitation for the church to come alongside Team 144—not just as spectators, but as partners in prayer and mission.
“We would love for you to partner with us financially, knowing that 100% of your gifts go directly toward sending our team around the world to train World Changers—missionaries serving in foreign countries,” Jak shared.
Jak encouraged the congregation, saying that though giving and going may not be possible for all, prayer is within everyone’s reach—and our Father faithfully responds to those who seek Him.
He challenged the church—and now, all of us—to join Team 144 in prayer:
Ask God to provide financially for the mission
Seek His direction as new doors of ministry open
Knock boldly on Heaven’s door for protection, favor, and fruit as we GO
Moving Forward in Faith
As we step into this next chapter under Jak’s leadership, we are filled with gratitude, excitement, and a deep sense of purpose. With our own “Swiss Army Knife” at the helm, we are confident that God will continue to train our hands for war and our fingers for battle (Psalm 144:1).
Together, we will ask.
Together, we will seek.
Together, we will knock—believing that God will answer.
Let’s move forward—united in purpose and faith—as we continue to equip and empower World Changers around the globe.
“Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
who trains my hands for war,
and my fingers for battle.”
— Psalm 144:1
