Who We Are
Team 144 is a faith-based organization comprised of certified Krav Maga instructors with a mission to empower and protect missionaries around the globe. Founded in 2019 by Dwayne Higgison, Team 144 emerged in response to the growing need for safety and security among missionaries operating in regions with limited or unreliable law enforcement.
Higgison recognized that many missionary teams faced significant risks in areas where local police forces could not provide the same level of protection found in the United States. To address this, he assembled a team of skilled instructors who are not only Krav Maga Instructors, but who also share a deep commitment to Christ.

What sets Team 144 apart is its unique blend of faith and self-defense training. The instructors are driven by a shared belief in the importance of their mission work and the desire to ensure that those spreading the Gospel can do so with confidence and safety. This spiritual foundation fosters a strong sense of community and support among the team members and those they train.
By integrating biblical principles into training, Team 144 offers a holistic approach that not only equips missionaries with the physical skills needed for self-defense but also reinforces their spiritual resilience. This dual focus on physical and spiritual well-being helps missionaries feel more secure and supported as they carry out their vital work in challenging environments.

WHAT IS KRAV MAGA?
Krav Maga is a self-defense system that originated in Israel and is used by the country's military, police, and security forces. The name translates to "contact combat" in Hebrew, and the system is known for its focus on realistic, real-world scenarios, such as muggings, sexual assault, and street fighting. Krav Maga incorporates techniques from other martial arts, including Aikido, boxing, judo, karate, and wrestling, and teaches striking techniques and grappling.

Dwayne Higgason is a highly respected Senior Pastor of Grace Temple Church in Hattiesburg with a passion for world travel and missionary training. He has taught on five continents and is a skilled Krav Maga and KMA Force Instructor.​

As the founder of Team 144, he has assembled a team of dedicated instructors who commit to a rigorous three-year program, training two hours a week to reach Level 3 Krav Maga Instructor.

The team's primary mission is to empower missionaries worldwide by imparting them with the necessary skills to protect themselves while serving in challenging environments. With their unwavering commitment to this mission, Team 144 is confident in their ability to equip every missionary they train with the necessary skills to stay safe and secure while serving in their respective fields.
