Part 2 - Equipping the Sheep

Over the course of three intense days, Team 144 conducted a self-defense seminar in Cambodia, training a diverse group of individuals, both locals and foreigners. Hosted at a local church, the training spanned over 9 hours, bringing together a truly unique mix of participants. Among them were missionary kids, staff from Hard Places Community (HPC), workers from other organizations, and both current and former victims of sex trafficking.

Our mission was simple yet profound: to equip these individuals with self-defense techniques that would make them "harder to kill." This phrase, shared by our head instructor Sam Pike during a demanding instructor certification, resonates deeply within our team. It captures the essence of what we do—empowerment, not aggression. We equip people to defend themselves, protect their families, and shield their friends from harm.

Throughout these three days, our goal went beyond teaching physical techniques. We aimed to instill a sense of confidence and strength in every participant. Many of those we trained have faced unimaginable hardships, but through this training, we sought to give them tools to reclaim their power and ensure their safety in the future.

The impact of this training extended far beyond self-defense. We heard countless testimonies from individuals who shared how they no longer carry the heavy burden of fear. Some said they now feel capable of defending themselves if needed. Others revealed that while they were hesitant at the beginning of the first day, by the end of the third, they were eager to learn more.

The transformation was undeniable. Individuals who had been raped, kidnapped, beaten, and trafficked no longer saw themselves as victims but as conquerors. This three-day seminar offered a path to healing for those who have been broken, a way to stand strong in the face of adversity, and a chance for these individuals to protect their loved ones.

Team 144 remains committed to this mission, standing alongside those who serve in some of the hardest places on earth. We are dedicated to ensuring they are not only spiritually equipped but also physically prepared for any challenges they may face.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we strive to "equip the sheep" with the skills they need to stay safe in an uncertain world.
